Ouch! Ebert gave it 2 1/2 stars! I haven't read the review yet, I'll wait till after the movie...but that's just painful to hear! have you heard anything else bad about the film?

I want to see it, but then again I don't. They made it look to much like a major action flick then the direction Star Trek was going in the past. I'm afraid this in going to ruin things for Trekkies...

I'm ready for it.
For that matter, I just signed up for Wrath of Con in Panama City Beach at the end of May. The wife actually wants to go. Last time we tried to go to a con (in Orlando) we had to deal with taking a kid to the ER right before we were ready to leave for that one.

this movie was awesome.
the only slight problem i had with it were the sets for the engine room. well and the starfleet hangar in san fransisco... and that they built big fucking spaceships on the ground in iowa. other than that it was a great new take on the original trek.
hope this will usher a scifi revival on the silver screen.

I love Ebert, but he is the only person I have heard give it a negative review yet. And from the fans that saw early screenings had only great things to say about it. I am going to a special 9:40 showing tonight, I'll try to remember to check back in with my thoughts.

Don't worry, no spoilers here.
I could not recommend this movie enough. It stays pretty close to what I perceive to be the source material, and it is character driven film first with some real kickass sfx in support. The second one is supposedly in the early stages already, which meant that it impressed studio execs enough to green-light a sequel even before its release, which is saying something. Just see this film stat, it has humor, nostalgia and a truly gripping story. Ebert was wrong on this one, 'nuff said!

Spoilers? We've got spoilers here?
Well, maybe I did on that one about the Destiny series, but I didn't think it was that bad.

you didn't do anything wrong, I was just thinking "man, I'm glad he didn't spoil the janeway thing...hmmm I don't have the spoiler tag here" and bam, there it is.

LOL. Well, yeah, I wasn't going to spoil that part. I was thinking more along the lines about the Borg. That might have been more information that some people would want, although I had a suspicion about things when parts went flying into the past. And we still don't know what's up with that hidden galaxy. I wonder if they ever do anything with that again, or have plans for it.
